Visit to Casa Bazzini
By Annelise and Alex Taylor
Today We had a tour of Tito Mancia’s nut factory, Bazzini, which he co-owns with his brother Miguel. We had a guided tour by his daughter Marcella and she was thorough and informative. It was an impressive establishment and we were once again amazed with Tito and his humanitarian efforts on behalf of the people of El Salvador. They currently employ 200 non-union employees that work two shifts, plus another 50 external employees.

They purchase 200,000 lbs of sugar locally every month and 300,000 lbs of peanuts from Nicaragua every month. They currently do a lot of international business and are in the process of finalizing the work entailed to start supplying nuts and sweet treats to Canada through the No Name brand.

In his adjoining land surrounded by his farm, grass lands and a large fountain, we enjoyed a pizza lunch with Tito, Marcella and Erick, who is a fellow Rotarian.
Finally we headed back to our hotel to get ready for another day of construction to ensure we get the new home owners into their homes before we leave.
