Rotarian Steel Workers in Cambodia
You start with a large coil of carbon steel rod and sheer it to length. Small lengths only large enough to bend on a jig to make a rectangle to bind all the reinforcing steel critical to the strength of the concrete posts to be poured.
Before you can bend these lengths of rod, they must be straightened and in Cambodia, that is done with a hammer on a thick plank.
Then to the bender for mass production. It takes 30 of these to make one reinforcing post.
Next, you take 4 large reinforcing rods the length equal to your ceiling height and slide the formed pieces on to the rods.
Then they are tied together using a bendy tie wire – there is a right way and a wrong way and the local ladies (the quality control police) make sure it is done right.
