Of Buckets and Sore Muscles

Our ‘easy first day’ of work proved to us how jet-lagged and out of shape we all were. Up before 6, at the work site at 7, and after opening formalities and welcomes we started carrying pails of earth to fill in the road through the Bakong Technical Centre site. It was really hot. Finally noon came and we had an excellent lunch of home-cooked Khmer food at the site. Then we wanted to go back to the hotel for showers and rest but an ox-cart convoy tour had been arranged for us to see the Bakong area. It was very scenic but the two two oxen for our cart were geriatric and we thought they were going to die on the road as they were so slow they were holding up the convoy. So we got off and walked so their load woud be lighter. Also it was faster to walk!!! More exercise and sun!!  It was really hot.

Finally got back for showers and siesta!
