Making Pavers, Saving Money
Saving $15,000 in one morning!
Yesterday at the Bakong Technical College in Cambodia, 5 Rotarians worked to save the project over $15,000.
Starting from scratch, this team mixed sand, gravel and a bag of cement by hand, then filled over 508 plastic moulds. Once dry these pavers will be used on pathways to connect the growing school complex and provide a safe environment for all. The current dirt paths are subject to severe damage during the rainy season.
“Money’s tight. Whenever you can save $15,000 it moves the project that much further ahead in a shorter span of time. It’s a wonder what just a little elbow grease can do.”
-Joanne Stewart, Co-Trip Leader
While that work proceeded, other Sweat Equity team members were taught to install previously prepared pavers all around the future Bakong Technical Centre building – brand new and ready for the students!
